  • Chuck Stewart Bio

Chuck Stewart studied music for eight years as a child, and, as he tells it, has had a love affair with music ever since. He received his bachelor’s degree in photography from Ohio University in 1949. Over the next five years he covered the Korean conflict as a U.S. Army photographer, worked in travel and advertising photography, and began his documentation of the jazz world. His jazz photographs have appeard in Leonard Feather’s Jazz Encyclopedia, Esquire Jazz Book, Downbeat, The New York Times, Life, Paris-Match, and many other magazines and newspapers. In addition, he has provided photographs for numerous albums by jazz greats.
